After completing my undergraduate studies, I found myself at a career crossroads. Initially aspiring to pursue MBBS, I was faced with a change in path when I secured admission to a private dental college instead. Here, I had the privilege of learning from some of the best professors in the field. Their guidance and encouragement pushed me to reach beyond my comfort zone, transforming my time in dental school into a journey of resilience and growth.
Dental education is a blend of rigorous theory and hands-on practice. The demands were high, but so was my dedication. Graduating as a dentist was a moment of pride and fulfillment. However, my time in clinical practice opened my eyes to a larger need: the importance of raising awareness about dental and oral health within the community. This realization planted a seed, sparking my interest in public health and leading me to pursue a path in health education and advocacy.
I initially applied for a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) to expand my understanding of community health needs. Although I wasn’t admitted on my first attempt, I didn’t let this setback deter me. I applied again the following year, casting my net wider by exploring international universities as well. To my amazement, while I didn’t secure a place at TISS, I was accepted into a globally renowned institution for public health.
Now, as I begin this new chapter, I am eager to learn and unlearn, embracing fresh perspectives to create meaningful change in the health sector. Grateful for this opportunity, I look forward to making a lasting impact on public health and empowering communities with the knowledge to lead healthier live
