Balancing Clinical Dentistry and Teaching: My Journey to success | Dr. Beegum Hanna

After completing my BDS in 2018, I began working at a nearby private dental clinic for 1.5 years. However, the low salary left me disheartened, and I quickly realized the tough situation many newly graduated dentists face when trying to make ends meet. This experience motivated me to seek better career opportunities abroad. I cleared the DHA licensing exam, but even then, the situation wasn’t what I had hoped for. My clinical practice came to an abrupt halt for a year, and I began exploring ways to generate my own income. This led me to discover my role as a tutor for dental Prometric exams, which ultimately laid the foundation for V Dent Academy in 2022.

As a dentist, I always wanted to continue my clinical practice while managing V Dent Academy. This journey has been a profound realization of my ability to align my professional skills and passion for dentistry. One of the biggest challenges I faced was finding time to organize live Zoom lectures for Prometric exams after my clinic duty hours at a renowned dental practice in Dubai.

To budding dentists, my advice is to always stay updated, explore the world beyond your immediate surroundings, and confidently step out of your comfort zone. The field of dentistry offers a wealth of career opportunities, more than ever before. Social media platforms have made it easier to stay informed about the latest advancements and trends in clinical dentistry. There are countless dental communities that conduct workshops, webinars, and hands-on courses. I make it a priority to stay connected with my online dental friends and peers.

One key lesson I’ve learned throughout this journey is the importance of consistency. Keep learning, stay adaptable, and don’t shy away from difficult situations—these are often the stepping stones to success. Most importantly, love yourself, as self-love will reflect in your goals and achievements. I owe my gratitude to God for guiding me through these experiences.

Today, I continue my clinical practice without interruption, but my passion for teaching is what truly fulfills me. The most rewarding part of my journey is that I’ve found a way to balance both my professional and personal life. Achieving work-life balance is one of the toughest challenges I’ve faced. However, I prioritize my mental well-being by carefully organizing my schedule, whether it’s for V Dent Academy, my daily clinic appointments, or spending quality time with my family. My daughter has been a beacon of light, inspiring me to tap into my inner strength and power.

I’m incredibly proud to be fulfilling the dreams of my parents and paving a path for future dentists. To those reading this, stay consistent, embrace learning, and above all, remember to love yourself.
